I just had to share this survey that happened to pass through my email box this week. Apparently Retrevo surveyed a thousand people, asking them about their social media usage. In fact, despite the concerns, there is no sign Facebook will decline in popularity any time soon.

Assuming you are using a Facebook account, either a personal account or a Fan page or group or all three to market your MLM business opportunity, you may want to consider some appropriate safety tips to protect your privacy.

Realize, however, that properly used, a Facebook account can help you create valuable connections and relationships for your small business.

MLM Marketing: Beware Personal Consumption Models

Filed in archive MLM Tips on May 26, 2010

When considering MLM marketing opportunities, beware personal consumption models.

As MLM marketing coach Jackie Ulmer explains these are poducts with a wholesale price that "FAR exceeds" what any customer from the general public would pay for it.

This gives the product or service the Network Marketing company is trying to sell you, the one they want you to sell other people, no "retail-ability", in Ulmer's words.

At this point it's time for a reality check. How can this be a good business?

Consider some advice shared in earlier posts from online business guru Scott Fox and MLM marketing expert Jeffrey Babener about choosing the right MLM business opportunity.

Obviously, if a product isn't competitively priced or of significant quality to be in demand from the general public and if the major method of distributing this product is for you to purchase it to use personally and recruit others to do the same this is not a good business.

As business experts recommend, use good judgement when evaluating MLM business opportunities. A good business model sells great products and services to people at a price and value they accept.

Don't Forget MySpace for MLM Marketing

Filed in archive MLM Tips on May 21, 2010

Though it may not be for everyone and has been outdistanced by newer social media site Facebook, the possibilities for MySpace for MLM Marketing should not be underestimated.

First off, as with other social media sites, the idea with MySpace is not direct marketing of your MLM opportunity, product or service, but the building of relationships and lead generation for your business.

If your MLM business appeals to the demographic served by MySpace, here are some of the features this godfather of social sites makes available to users like you at no cost:

Profile. Create a profile telling visitors to your MySpace page more about who you are and the kind of people you would like to meet. Hopefully this will pave the way to locating prospects for your MLM business.

Video. A video sharing feature similar to one offered by YouTube allowing you to upload video that can then be shared on other Websites or blogs telling others more about who you are and how to connect.

Bulletin. The feature allows you to, in effect, "broadcast" announcements to other MySpace friends and is one of the sites best tools for spreading information through your profile.

Stream. A micro-blogging feature similar to Twitter allows for brief regular updates also to be shared with friends.

MySpace may not be right for every business since it has a specific demographic, but if this audience is one you hope to communicate with about your MLM business you cannot afford to ignore the possibilities the site has to offer.
