What are the big lies of multi-level marketing?

According to Robert L. Fitzpatrick, founder and president of Pyramid Scheme Alert, a consumer advocacy group, there are at least ten big falsehoods those considering MLM or network marketing should be aware of prior to getting involved in the MLM industry.

In the interest of balance, we provide this list of innaccuracies which Fitzpatrick says are often used to promote the multi-level marketing system in an article on MLM Watch, a site billing itself as a "skeptical guide to multi-level marketing".

Among Fitzpatrick's points are some legitimate concerns about how much time is needed to be successful, whether MLM's are truly a business for anyone and whether the system is mathematically sustainable given the unlimited number of distributors recruited by some MLMs.
